Maybe I can play a small role

In prison I remember reading a statistic that one out of three Black children born in the U.S. will experience incarceration during their lifetime. I didn't know if the stat was true or not, or where it came from, but one thing I did commit to is being the best example I could be for our youth and use my life as an example of what not to do, and also direct them to discover their own interests and help them discover their passions and inspire them to put in the hard work to achieve. I may not be successful at turning someone around, but when my life comes to an end, I want to know that I left everything I had to give on the field. I can take nothing with me to the grave and ultimately I may have played a small role in pushing one of these young people in the right direction.
